Acacia Melanoxylon or Australian Blackwood

Blackwood not to be confused with dalbergia melanoxylon from Africa.

9.5" dia x 2.75" high 3/16" wall thickness sanded with a inertia sander to around 320 and given a polish with a product called EEE which similar to Tripoli powder. Then finished with a friction polish Shellawax.

This polish will harden up over two to three weeks then it will get a final coat of polish and a buff up

Thanks for posting photos of your work, Hughie. Black Acacia (Acacia Melanoxylon) has been growing around Southern California for quite some time and is available to woodturners here. In fact, it grows so well, it is considered an invasive species.
