Are they gone or just hiding in the great purge and upgrade of 2019?

I guess that I must have been asleep ... was there a great purge? I am still getting plenty of emails from Craft Supplies, Carter & Son, and other clogging my inbox.

This thread is being moved to the Woodturning Discussion forum since it has nothing to do with forum technical support.

Thanks Bill

I know I did not explain my question. And I meant no disrespect to AAW or the upgrade.
I am def in favor of the updating and upgrading of our great Organization.

I was asking about the page that had listed our
Advertisers in alphabetical order...it was such a great list to find so many of our fav stores....

So can you tell me and my pea brain if it still
Exists (I hope). And if so where is it????

some of the listings were
Craft Supplies
Cindy Drozda
Carter and son
Carter products
WoodTurners Emporium
Wyoming WoodTurner
And many more

I loved that page and I can not find it since the
Upgrade of our AAW webpage

thanks

Mlyle

I don't know the answer to your question. They promise more great things to come. I've encountered some things that are either under construction or just plain broken. It probably would be best to call the AAW office to let them know your opinion.

So sorry
I mean the vendors and suppliers page..with links to each or most of the vendors.

Craft Supplies and Carter tools .....I was mentioning as "examples"
they are vendors correct?????

I am not referring to any one getting emails from all the vendors.. haha

So sorry I am unable to communicate what
page I am trying to find.

Surely you remember the page with all the vendors and
advertisers

I believe that I have seen the page you are talking about. The only thing that I could find is the Find a Supplier page which currently seems to be nothing more than a placeholder. I think that a Google search is a far better option at this point.

My impression is that the new website is all database driven -- the find a supplier page (under the resources menu) is more than just a place-holder, it is a place to query the vendor database. Although it appears the database might not be fully populated yet....

:D That appears to be quite an understatement. :D

Cindy Drozda and John Jordan are the only real businesses in the supplier database. There are a couple dummy entries that look like leftovers from alpha testing that should have been removed before going live.

Not sure I understand what you are trying to say... They are both in business, I get emails from both, all the time.
Looks like I posted this at the same time that you explained Bill what you meant. I did not see your explanation. Now, it makes sense! LOL The girls at the office told me that they are working on the site, more features are coming. You can only test so much, at some point you have to go live and deal with the problems. They probably should test it with some of us for a few weeks...

Thanks Emiliano...

I thought I was crazy for awhile there......but then i reread
my first part of the missing page saga....of which was not real
easy to figure out what i was talking about.
You know having my fav grocery store re doing the whole store.
and then this.....haha and i thought i was in a new universe.

thanks for sticking with me and getting to the bottom of this mystery.....

But this is one instance..... i think...... that a page created for FINDING a subject and using way too many filters within
a number of filters ( such as that which exists in the resources)
folder...is more difficult or more time consuming than a page.just having the info on one dedicated page....
I do not mean to be a know it all.but I have seen enough examples
of SW installs and upgrades with similar outcomes and or certain changest to present SW. In my Humble opinion........and only my opinion.
I will say that everthing else i have seen with the new SoftWare
is very nice.......so just a few bugs will not hurt us users .....For awhile.

Thanks to all for putting up with me...
I will get back to trying to learn Woodturning.

OH
so what is correct procedure to report any more bugs.... "..god forbid"

You could phone the office and talk to one of the gals. I prefer that to using email.

I have found a problem with the mobile version. If you try to navigate to the "find a member" page you get a 404 (not found) error. The desktop version works fine. It would also be nice if the desktop version could be accessed from mobile devices.

It might be nice to be able to access the site at all. Despite supposed updating of my password during a phone call with AAW last week, the new password set up at that time fails. After that, following the instructions on the 'rocket' page produced no result, which suggests that the system considered my email address invalid -- the very same email address AAW used to send me the "AAW: By virtually every measure, 2019 has been an extraordinary year..." email a couple days ago, the email address which was checked and verified by AAW during the phone call last week..
I give up.

An update on my dealings with AAW. Still can't get access to the website. Now AAW has informed me by email that my membership expires tomorrow -- long after I renewed by phone. I give up. I am a member of three AAW chapters, on the board of two. I will remain a member of those chapters, but I am seriously considering whether I have any reason to remain a member of AAW.

If the clubs are AAW affiliates then board members are required to be AAW members.

I can sympathize with your efforts to get a password so that you can log into the secure site. I was able to get a working password by calling the office. If your membership really is expiring they should also be able to take care of that over the phone. I try to avoid conducting business by email because it is too slow

I'm well aware of AAW membership requirement for board membership. I have been on one board so long (10 of the last 12 years?), most of the time as an officer, it would be a relief to resign. My term on the other expires soon. In any event, when I called them today, AAW acknowledged that I have indeed paid for 2020, so that matter is moot. I wouldn't have to be an AAW member to simply be a member of a chapter. That call also finally got a functioning password put in place by AAW. As for the supposedly expiring membership -- they said that that message came from the "old system", but that the "new" system showed my membership as paid. Having two different systems operating at the same time, with overlapping or duplicated functions is bound to create problems -- and has. I was told that other people have reported that they had received erroneous messages about supposedly expiring memberships, not to mention not receiving the password update email.

It's taken two phone calls and the better part of half an hour of my time. I conduct business with AAW over the phone because I have had years of problems with the old AAW website; it would repeatedly invalidate my password. Given that AAW didn't send me, and a number of others, an email about password updating, I saw no reason to deal with AAW by email.

Hi Michael! I'm glad you like the page with all of the advertisers. It has not been purged, but is still in process. In fact, there are several pages that have not made the transition yet. We're working on them and hope to have them available soon. Happy New Year! Kim :)

Hello R:

I’m sorry to hear that you had problems resetting your password. The AAW has a very small and dedicated staff who are responsible for resolving all password issues and other snags. I’m happy to hear that you called our office to resolve the matter. Please know we are always happy to help our members. We also welcome emails to memberservices@woodturner.org.

Please note, AAW is not operating two systems simultaneously with overlapping and duplicate functions as you stated. For a short time, staff has access to old system records for reference while mastering the new back-end functionality.

I apologize for the problems you experienced, the time spent, and the frustration caused. I encourage you to give the website another chance. Feel free to let us know if you continue to have problems or have questions about AAW’s operations. Our members are very important to us.

Wishing you a very happy new year,
Kim

Kim, when l move from this forum to the AAW site using the tab at the top of the page, l have to sign in every time. With the old site, it would remember me.

Hi Mike: Thanks for your message. I'm not aware of anything that would cause you to continuously login back and forth. I just tried going back and forth between the AAW website and the Forum using Firefox and it seems to be working okay for me. Will you let me know which browser you are using? I will be happy to do some testing and check into this further. :) Cheers, Kim

I'm using MS Edge. When I go from forum to AAW site, l need to log in. When l click "sign in", my old user name pops up. Then l enter my email and new pass word to log in.

MS Edge stores saved logins in a file on your computer. I don't use MS Edge, but I assume that you can delete old logins so that it won't be using old information.

Until Edge properly implements the chrome engine, ther will be random issues. Like mist MS tools, it isn't quite ready for prime time. You'll usually have better results everywhere using Chrome. Edge is even iffy working with SharePoint.
