Ailanthus

turns great. The bowls look like this ) only sideways. :) I like it. The wood looks a lot like ash but is much softer and easier to turn. It has open pores like ash and is Very light weight. I make hand mirrors from it because I can do the same kind of surface decoration that i do with Ash but it doesn't feel so heavy.
 
I had some once. The open pores are a bummer for bowls because your salad dressing will leak out. I think it could be interesting for art pieces where you die, or rough texture it. Maybe a lamp shade because if I remember, it is translucent.
