Funny! Makes me think of actors on TV who "pretend" they can play a guitar...... I am no good at it, but at least I can fake it.

Thanks for the reminder. I'm gradually replacing all of my original Teknatool SN chucks (geared key) with the SN2 chucks (hex key). Time to order again.

I play the piano, guitar, french horn and trumpet and others and I'm working on the cello. I am always intrigued by actors "playing" those and other instruments.
Watched something the other day with some incredible guitar playing at a campfire - but every time the camera cut to the "player" for a few seconds he was fingering a simple chord, nothing like the fancy left and right hand fingering heard when he was off camera. The music was so good I watched it three times to be sure - totally fake. It's probably impractical to hire an actor who is also a musician.
And then watching an actor "playing" some very dramatic cello music whose fingering and bowing were not even close to what would be needed for the notes heard - for example the music would be of high notes while the fingers, instead of low on the fingerboard were high on on the fingerboard near the nut - the performance was much better if I closed my eyes. In contrast, most piano pieces by actors at least "mostly" had the hands in reasonable places when the fingers were hidden by the camera angle. And some shots of hands obviously playing the correct notes on the keyboard are carefully made without the actor in the photo. Sometimes I watch the credits to see the name of the actual musician.
That said, it's wonderful to watch a live performance or even a video/film of a real musician! For example, John Batiste's interpretations of some "classical" pieces may be interesting to someone who knows and has played the originals. Here he's having fun playing around with a simple little piece, Für Elise, from his Beethoven Blues album.
