Another “what wood is this” posting

An old blank was given to me recently and I have no idea what type it is, nor where it came from, nor how old it is.
It has a light weight feel, and has a musty smell while turning.
Multiple experts in a couple of FB groups offered many many opinions. Now I’m asking those I expect know more.

Changed the light on it and expanded part of the picture, I do think Richard has it right, ELM, though a smooth cut would make it easier to ID as it is pretty rough in the picture.

Elm was my first thought. Fresh elm smells like the cats have been spraying it. Seasoned elm kind of smells like river bottoms areas, similar to the cottonwood areas.
