Anybody know what's up with the Thompson tools site?

Doug is still active in the tool business and symposium circuit. When he travels the communications get sidelined. I have never run out of my bowl Gouges. My gouge is made to my specifications. The Jamieson 1/2 inch (5/8 Diameter) bowl gouge is only available from me, and I have stock.
Good to know as I was planning on ordering another gouge from you just to have an extra one.

My definition of restraint is to only order one. Mission accomplished. I'm going to claim it as a birthday present. You have one less in stock now.

Anyone have a better email address for him? Or phone number?

I can't get the one on his site to work for contact.

I may have purchased this from Ashley Harwood, circa 5 years ago, during the covid era. My memory is not as good as it once was. Ah, being a senior. hahaha It has your name on it and 10V.

What is it? The bar is 10V, 5/16" x 1/2", maybe 8-9" long. It seems to be designed for detail scraping, since it has a burr on the top curved edge. I'm trying to learn how to sharpen it.

Doug's contact email on the site does not work, now into April 2026. <Doug@devnet1.com/tool>

Now, how to sharpen it as it has a slight negative rake on top. I do know she uses a high grit CBN wheel 400(?)
Don't know what Cindy and others use, but I've been happy for years now sharpening NRS on a 600 grit 8" WTW CBN wheel on a 1/2 speed grinder. I use it for other scrapers, skews, bowl gouges, parting tools, etc, everything except for spindle gouge which I sharpen on a 1200 grit CBN on a Tormek.

I always remove the grinder burr for all tools and burnish a burr for all scrapers - conventional, NRS, and hand card scrapers. I've used a variety of burnishers over the years and now stick with the Arno; has several good advantages:

I like this burnisher so much I bought a second one for me for "just in case" and a third one for a friend.

I have a small collection of disused 1/4" and 1/2" solid carbide router bits, where the head could be ground off and the shank inserted into an epoxied handle to act as a burnisher. Much less payola than the French version, as good as it may be. Currently, I am using a ceramic burnisher that functions well.
