anybody do anything for Arbor Day or Arbor Weekend?????? :D

Arbor Day is the last Friday in April each year!

i hope you are well, Bill

I "celebrated" by cutting some branches from a partially-felled tree. Root ball and rest of trunk next week.

Sitting, or lying down, in hospital room? BBQ reaction? You, or someone else? Best of luck, whichever.

Well the BBQ wasn't anything to write home about, but it was not the reason I was there. My dad who is 88 was having heart surgery. He is out of the hospital and we are all very thankful that he made it through everything. I guess that it would be OK to plant a tree a couple weeks late.

I did an Arbor Day presentation for a 5th grade class. It actually was a "Memorial/Arbor Day" celebration for a lady who had recently passed away who had been very active in children's reading programs and loved trees.

Not me. I let the birds and the wind plant the trees, and just leave them alone so they can grow. Suppose it would be different to plant a memorial or an urban pet tree, but here nature's doing fine.

Hi Charlie, The one in April is National Arbor Day.There are Arbor Day celebrations in different states in different months of the year. If you go to their web site it has a list of events.
I'm a tree lover, and the love of trees is my second hobby interest or it could be the first, depends on the time of year.
I practice the art of Bonsai. I have over 50 trees in my garden. Some are very small 4" high and some are larger, Dawn Redwoods at 3'. I work at creating more trees from cuttings of the trees. Yesterday I trimmed a Shimpaku Juniper and got over 40 cuttings and planted them. Every year for the past 5 years I plant tree seeds of different varieties, this year I planted 400 tree seeds, and I'm about to plant about 300 more. Not all will sprout, some take up to two years to sprout. It has been a very rewarding hobby.
Old Chinese proverb: The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, the second best time is today.:cool2:

We planted a maple in the backyard of our apartment in St. Louis in 1942, I was six and got the tree at grade school. Dad and older brother dug the hole and I added a few shovels of dirt. Back at the old neighborhood about 20 years ago not only was the tree gone but the whole block of houses. I was furious, was going to kill whoever cut my tree down, the heck with the apartment building. Times change.

I killed a Mimosa....dried it overnite, turned a bunch of stuff the next day, horse-traded a bunch, waxed a bunch... other than that, didn't do a lot....:D:D

That's really very cool, Jim. Post a couple of pics or a link to your Bonsai.
