Beall Closing

From The Beal Tool Company website.

Dear Customers,
The time has come for holiday greetings, for gift creations, family gatherings and warm wishes for the coming year. Alas, this December it is also our time to say goodbye: after forty years, The Beall Tool Company will be closing at the end of this year. We’ve had an interesting time and have been rewarded — not only monetarily, but also by getting to know you better and hearing about your plans and projects.

We are grateful for your business over the years and for your trust in our products, and want to assure you that our tools will live on. They will be available from Lee Valley, a company which appreciates and respects good tools and with whom we have had a long and happy relationship.

We want to wish you not only a warm and joyful holiday season, but also a lifetime of successful projects and fun in the sawdust. As for us — we have an idea we want to try out in the shop. . .

— J.R. & Judith Beall

I sent JR a congratulatory email yesterday. He said he wasn't sure when he was going to retire, "I'm only 89" was his reply. Great guy to visit with, followed him for decades at woodworking shows.

Thanks J.R. I just ordered an MT2 adapter to augment my existing full Beall System. I am a true believer and mainly use an oil finish (Watco) buffed on the Beall system.

Always happy to hear when someone gets to retire. It hopefully means I am getting closer.

Glad to hear Lee Valley is going to carry it on instead of the Beall line going away for good.

I Just received his Big ER50 collet chuck. His closing forced my purchase! It is a unique product for the woodturning lathe. Now that I have this new toy, I don't know how I ignored purchasing it all these years when I knew it was available. I works wonderfully!
JR is a great innovator. His name of course is a noun but can be used as a verb. How did you finish your piece? I Bealled it! Good Luck to him and his wife.
