Very sad to hear the passing of Bill R. as we knew him. Bill become a friend thru the years, from the day I called him to see if he had any Stubby's lathes for sale. He was an amazing talented woodturner and engineer, a problem solver and inventor. His spur drive is the most use tool in my shop. Bill kept providing support for all of us stubby owners even after Omega Lathes from Australia stop the importation to the US.
A hui ho my friend (Till we meet again) Aloha.

Yes, Bill Rubenstein was a wonderful guy. I was looking forward to talking to him at SWAT which will be just a few days from now. Last year we talked about the new lathe design that he was working on. He had a prototype on display. He was planning to use molded composite materials for most of the structure. It was a very interesting concept.

Like many woodturners I only knew Bill through electronic media. I bought several tools and parts from him. But what I remember most was his willingness to offer help or advice on anything I contacted him about. He always told it like it was, but always in a non-offensive way. The memories of my dealings with Bill are extremely good. He will be missed.

Bill's obituary.
