Blues and greens Segmented Lidded Vessel

Since you only state one wood how are you accomplishing the dark and light colors in apparent one block in a row? The first ones you posted I could see that same color going around the piece.
Well, I'm not really sure, Gerald. I apply the colors randomly, trying not to go completely around the entire ring with a single color. Might have something to do with the way the side grain of the segment takes the dye. Might be the way the DNA washes away some of the colors that overlap. I'm not trying to be vague. I honestly don't have an answer for you.
