They say that 80% of your body heat goes out thru your head. Maybe that is why I get cold so fast. There is nothing in there to slow it down. Just surmising, Max

they make us wear ear plugs at the day job, nothing leaks out that way :D

I know it makes a goody fashion statement but in cool weather I have been known to wear a toboggan hat with shorts and t-shirts in the shop. I threaten my kids I'll wear it to the store with them if they aren't good :p

Warmth

Max, it is about 16 degrees this morning. How warm is it in your shop? You can't let Mr. Mustard get cold.

You guys have it easy!!!! It has been near 0 or 5-10 below some eves for the last 3 weeks in Michigan . A balmy 19 this am. Get to work in the shop this week end and the woodstove is heating the 52 dgr. basement as I write.

Barb-Rat fact I heard is that women like to have their back to the shower, while men face the shower. A bearing????? :D Gretch

Well it's not that cold here in Tennessee, high of 36 today, but my shop is under 50. I need more heat. I'm looking at the 220v electric heat pump airconditioners. I've talked to a couple of people that say they work great for them. I think I could wear a fur coat on my head and my feet would still be cold. I'd order one of those big russian hats but I don't think it would work.

My shop is in the basement garage. Don't tell my wife but, when they put it in, they ran a heating vent from the furnace. A total of maybe 10' of straight shaft. When I open it, the shop heats up in a jiffy. Of course, the bedroom (about 40' of bent shaft) gets a touch nippy :D .

Worse comes to worst, I have my shop heaters. This consists of a heat gun propped up and running on my drill press and my propane torch running on the band saw table. Not really able to do much work due to haveing to sit and watch them (not a big fan of housefires) but heats up pretty quick.

And that 6" blanket of shavings by the lathe helps the feet stay warm.

P.S.(does anyone smell smoke? Must be my imagination)
