Of course I messed up the lid, but I'll figure something out there. This was done on my bolt-on CNC for the lathe.

Now you just need to fill the hexes with resin or if you are really ambitious with a second wood!

It probably isn't clear in the picture, but each of the pockets is actually flat across the bottom (no arc), with the idea being the complementary pieces can be cut on the normal CNC and placed in. This was just a first attempt, but I may try that in the future.
