Hello all, I'm new to turning and hope to learn a lot and have fun. My dad (a general contractor) recently retired and I inherited some of his tools. Somehow I became interested in turning and bought a lathe (one of the few tools I've paid for, which makes it a little special) I've been turning for a couple of months and have made some pens and one bowl (which my mom spirited away to show her friends). My dad was not so sure until I got him into the garage and showed him the lathe. Now we have big plans! Hopefully updates will follow.

Just to ditto
Local chapters provide all kinds connections for new and established woodturners.

Colorado has excellent chapters and turners.
I have had the pleasure of attend a couple Rocky Mountain club meetings. Great demos, great people.
Also in the fall they have the Rocky Mountain symposium at the fairgrounds in Loveland.
Got there one year too.
 
hockenbery's suggestion to attend the symposium is good. Lots of great info there plus you will see many products available to turners.
