Buying an English oak log & the 1st things I make from it

hello folks

I bought an English oak log recently and thought you might like to see what I have made so far from it.

The log was rejected by my local sawmill as it had a slight curve over its length which will make it awkward to saw for planks.
The log was 20" wide by 8' long, it was in a pile of other oak and ash logs

I cut it into lengths of 18" which is the biggest i can handle on my own and transport the 7 miles back to my workshop.

The log had lots of burr/burl growths over the outside which I was hoping I could use for natural edge pieces but having tried one natural edge bowl the sapwood has spalted and gone too soft to realistically use.
Unfortunately the burr/burl figure is only shallow so it appears in patches on one side of the forms.

so I have turned the 1 bowl and 3 vessels/vases
