Has anyone had experience changing the inerts out on a Vicmarc chuck? If so what tools and procedures do you use?

Like my Novas I put my Vicmarcs in a big vice I have with soft jaws and then I use water pump pliers to grab and unscrew the insert.

I do the same for Novas- clamp the chuck in a vise with wood jaws. I use the Nova wrench to unscrew the insert. Don't forget to remove any locking set screws first! Sometimes they are not obvious - deep inside, accessible through a hole on the outer circumference of a Nova chuck. Maybe other brands are similar.

On the more recent Chuck’s they have a locking Allen screw on the back of the insert (headstock side) that should be removed. They also have a hole for the Tommy bar that comes with the Chuck’s. If you clamp the Chuck’s jaws on a board in a vise (or securely fixed to something) to hold the Chuck in place and put the Tommy bar (or a large Allen wrench) in the insert hole, then give the Tommy bar a sharp tap it should come free.
