I retired about 8 years ago after 40 years in the carpenters union. Couldn't seem to get that out of my system so I continued to work part-time for a couple of years.
Spent a few years taking care of the accumulation of 'honey do's', then re-landscaped the back yard.
I was looking for something to while away the golden years, and my brother suggested wood turning.
Watched about a gazillion youtube videos, bought an old Rockwell 46-525, joined AWW, and now I'm looking for a new lathe.
 
Welcome to a wonderful hobby/addiction. JK---it's fun to make things from chunks of wood.
