Wanted to know if anyone out there knows how chase threads or where I can gather more info on the subject. I must be looking in the wrong place because I can't seem to find much on the subject. I do know there are special tools so where to but them would also be helpful.

if you can get into an Allan Batty class in Utah, do so -- he's a wealth of info. also, he'll show you how to modify your purchased chasers so they actually work!
his video is great and has some additional documentation that covers the chaser conversion. it's a good place to start

I was also going to recommend Fred Holder's book. It is excellent. If you'r rather just cut them instead of hand chasing look at the Thread cutting tool from www.bestwoodtool.com

Jim It's www.Bestwoodtools.com you left off the "s" Vic said they are in the process of updating their website with some new things. one of them is a really nice 1/2" keyless chuck. I don't remember the price but it is an excellent by. It takes drill bits from 1/32 to 1/2" and has a #2 morse taper. John

There are ways to build a threading jig. fred holder has one in his book but I have seen others somewhere. I'll have to do a search and see if I can find a sketch.

Mike Darlow's book "Woodturning Techniques" has an excellent chapter on threading including a couple of ways to make your own threading jig.
