Bill, You're right, I was cutting with same carbide tips for while, then found out that you can sharpen them. I just installed new tips this past weekend. I'm using Harrison Specialties ones, hopefully switching to gouges in the next couple of months

How do you sharpen them? I have tried using a diamond slipstone, but the results haven't been too good. I think that the problem is that the edges of the carbide keep chipping.

I can't find the exact video I followed, but it is very similar to this one on YouTube. I haven't had problems yet, my carbides are from Harrison Specialties.
