Ci1 and other inserts

Another turner sent me some inserts that where purchased from Grizzly. I mounted both on my Ci1 tool.

I had a piece of maple mounted between centers. The wood was around 18% EMC. I cranked the speed to about 1400 rpms and started cutting.

There is a difference, the grizzly bits had way more tear out than the bits from Craig's EasyRider.

Ron, that does not suprise me at all. People who make and sell tools invest many, many hours of research and thousands of dollars to get them right. Making a quality tool that works is just not as simple as it sounds.

I saw the Easy-Rougher in Feb. at Choice Woods.Craig was demonstring it.
I was very impressed.

I know a fellow woodturner that makes some home-made versions, using rotary planer cutters from Grizzly. He does not have a chain saw, and I had already arranged to trade him some bowl blanks for one.

It is rough!
It has insured me to get the real thing when I get to the AAW Symposium.
The blades that Craig uses are thicker!
I beleive Craig will be there in Craft Supplies booth.

Having trouble waiting for the Symposium, oh and I have a brother to visit while I'm in Albuquerque
