Hello! I am a retired person who remembers turning as a high school student. I live somewhat remotely and finding a mentor or nearby club has been impossible.....enter YouTube and many books. I like turning bowls and have been enjoying that. Already upgrading my lathe from a Delta 46-700 to a Jet 1640EVS. Excited to receive it. Very much enjoying the forum.

Welcome Claudio. I have a Jet 1642 and am very pleased with it. I suspect you will be pleased with your new Jet, as well. I think you will find the folks on the forums very helpful. I have already gotten some good suggestions and shared some of my experiences. It is a great place to exchange knowledge and experience. If you don't immediately see a thread on topics of interest to you, try the search feature. I have found a wealth of information that way.

Welcome-- You may find a benefit now that most clubs and demonstrators are meeting in live remote sessions. You don't need to be physically close to join a club. Some folks (including volunteer mentors) are set up for one-on-one instruction remotely.

Welcome. with Covid most everyone is remote - classes and club meetings are not happening.

I have a lot of friends in Colorado.
Trent Bosch in Ft Collins is one who has assembled a number of turners to offer Demonstrations through his web site. The previous demos are available for viewing for a limited time. Here is a link. https://virtualwoodturningdemos.com/shop/

AAW has a search engine that give you videos and articles - The videos have been reviewed for safe and effective practices.

In the author field type the first or las name of forum contributors to see what pops up.
Try: “Lucas” Or “Reed” Or “Jordan” or “blasic” Or “good” or “horais” or “hock” (a few of mine)
“Batty” is a good choice too.
