I've been involved in some form of woodworking since I was a kid helping my dad build a boat. Over the years interests have changed from basic furniture making to carpentry to woodturning to toys and back again ... you get the idea. All of which would ebb and flow with career and kids. About 40 years ago I acquired my first (Beaver) lathe and put it to immediate use making rattles for my newborn daughter. Then a few bowls, vases, and plates until life got in the way and the lathe sat, and sat, and sat. During COVID I dusted it off, sharpened my old (cheap) tools and bought a couple of new ones, and started turning again. Didn't take long to begin to notice the limitations of that old lathe and so last spring I got a new Coronet Herald (Record Power) and really got hooked again. Then I discovered what could be done with epoxy resins. So now I turn mostly small (<10") bowls and plates. My wood source is usually the firewood pile, so lots of gnarly bits that lend themselves well to be augmented by epoxy, or simply left live-edge. And so here I am, still learning, but hopeful that I might also contribute in some way. Cheers!
