This month's forum challenge was to make a single tree. I chose a single tree, rather than a grouping, so folks could focus on a special technique or piece of wood. We had a decent amount of participation, a veritable forest! Nice job, everyone, and thank you for playing!

Now, the challenge for all forum members (this means you and me) is to choose a favorite. Voting begins now and concludes ~11:59p UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) Saturday, 3 January, 2026. You are allowed two votes; once you have voted, you won't be able to go back and change your votes. After you have voted, you can track the vote totals. The voting is secret (just like an actual election), so nobody else can see who you voted for (not even the moderators/administrators). In case of a tie vote, the forum moderators will gather in a virtual waist-deep green shavings-filled shop to determine the winner.

As in all previous challenges, the winner might have to pass a lie detector test before being awarded the Grand Prize (rumored to be a piece of seasoned and character-rich (read, cracks!) old Christmas tree trunk).

The following are this month's entries. FYI, you can click on each image for a larger view:

Hi everyone, I fumbled a SECOND time and forgot to add another entry. So, I reset the poll and extended the voting deadline through the 3rd of January. Apologies, and good luck!

Big congratulations to @Phil Hamel for being selected as this month's favorite turning. His combo tree/snowman/present sculpture was incredibly clever. I'm a sucker for surprises, and this one definitely delivered. Nice job! Thank you also to everyone else that participated and voted for their favorite. Stay tuned for this month's challenge announcement coming tomorrow. Cheers!
