Dental Light Question

Greetings all

After many years of lusting after a dental light for the lathe, I have finally acquired one, courtesy of a very kind dentist who is also a woodturner. I installed it temporarily over the Vega bowl lathe to ascertain the range of motion, and it looks real good where it is at, with one small caveat. The post depending from the beam in my roof is just a bit too long. I have been corresponding with my dentist friend, and he does not think it would be a problem to cut some of the post off, but I was wondering if anyone else here had encountered a similar problem - those of you with dental lights, assuming there is anyone else here with one.

Any other tips or experiences would be appreciated as well.

Tell you what, Bill. If you ship me the light, I'll take a look at it and see if it can be shortened. If not, I'll dispose of it for you.

That's a very generous offer Dietrich, however, I about wore my arm out screwing those big ole lag bolts into 63 year old red oak. I don't even want to THINK about having to take them out. I did get my problem solved though, with just a little bit of work and an indentured servant who helped me hold the light. Pictures will come in a little bit.
