Hello all,
Hobby woodworker who caught a deal on a Delta mini 4 or 5 years ago, later picked up a Rikon 70-220. Probably have turned 300-400 pens, mostly with carbide., along with some bottle stoppers and such. Last summer, with my pen market dried up--i tinkered with a few small bowls, discovered the benefits of high speed steel and probably haven't turned a dozen pens since. Struggled with sharpening, but a Sorby Pro-Edge really helped that. Have a few years left to work, but will definitely have a way to use time when i stop going to the office.
Finding this forum and the brief affiliation with a local club (one virtual meeting) to be incredibly valuable--and want to thank you all in advance for all of the help!!

Welcome to the forum! A local AAW chapter is worth the time, virtual or in person. So you have written off pen turning?;)

Thanks. @John Torchick --still have a boatload of blanks & hardware, so i'll go back to pens at some point. Need to make a few spalted maple from my property for a coworker who recently gave me a quart of maple syrup from their land--i'd like to keep that syrup supply flowing!!
