Has anyone ever turned off the handle extension? If so did you regret it or glad you did?

If you are referring to the full size, I’m not sure I would on the rougher, but other tools like the detailer yes. And why not just cut it off on the bandsaw instead of turning it off?
 
I just want to point out that Easy Wood does sell handleless versions of their tools. They are a direct sale item from EW, and generally not available from retailers.
 
It's not you have to be real nimble with your scraper when using that style of tool. I barely see the need for their tools, let alone modify the handles
