I was looking at some of the wood lathe demos on You Tube and saw one that used a "Elbow Tool" to hollow out a vase.
Has any one tried this tool? Does anyone know who sells it?

elbo tool

Stan Townsend is inventor/manufacture he sells them

also highland woodworking 1-800-241-6748

Mini lathe extension

Has anyone tried this? It looks pretty convenient, as it might be easier to leave the elbo tool attached to the extension and attach this to your lathe than to attach the elbo tool to your tailstock quill.

Looks like the right idea to me! I want one of the tools, but am a little concerned about attaching it to the quill on my Mustard Monster. If this is tall enough, it would be worth the extra $ to alleviate the worry.

I had the same thought about that being handy on any lathe. Assuming it is set proper for the Rikon at 6". It looks like it might make a 16" lathe, but not 20"! But a taller post is easy enough, and you can probably get ahold of the designer via phone or email. I also wonder if there is a chance that the metal plate might not be wide enough to properly span the ways on the PM?

Have you heard any complaints about problems from mounting to the quill?
I'm thinking to put one of these on my PM90, but would hate to mar the scale on the quill. I know replacement tailstocks are like hens teeth.

No Complaints, I just LOVE my lathe and wouldn't want to have to lose time on it while replacing something important, because I messed it up.
