Established Membership???

Are you referring to the status on these forums? That only comes from participation (posting, replies, etc) - the forums have nothing to do, really, with AAW membership other than the fact that the forums (which are a completely separate thing from AAW) are supported by , but not owned by, the AAW - You can be a forum member without being an AAW member, and vice-versa. Forums status comes from your participation, only thing that AAW membership gives you here besides member ID is some few "extra benefits" in your forum account, I believe.

Well said, thanks for helping. Aloha from Maui

Gerald, if you look at the top of this page you should see a paragraph in bold black text that explains how to become an established member.

Thank you, Brian, for addressing this question. It's a prevalent misconception that being an AAW member means that you are also a forum member. Several links to the forum on the AAW website drop-down menu will send you to the forum. This leaves the impression that everything is on the same website. I believe that it's considered good practice to inform people that clicking on a link or selecting a menu item will cause them to leave the current website and ask them to confirm.

Forum members are automatically upgraded to Established Member status after being members for thirty days PLUS have made ten posts in the discussion forums. Conversation messages and gallery posts/comments DO NOT count. However, we aren't completely heartless ogres. Those forum members who joined before the rule change can be upgraded to Established Member status when brought to our attention.

Even though the forum is completely run by volunteers, it is a service of the AAW. The AAW pays for software maintenance and license updates. Thanks to the generosity of Chris Fairbanks our hosting service is free.
