Falconry Hood Display Stand

I practiced falconry 30 years ago. My brother is an active falconer. I want to make him a display stand for his hoods. The rough design looks like this:

The stems are too long in this picture. It's just the rough idea.

I made some prototypes of the stands a couple of months back:

These have bases, but of course the real ones will be pegged to fit in the base. I was experimenting with different woods. Left to right, they are sugarberry, dogwood, mulberry (x2), and sassafras.

I decided on cherry for this piece.
