I agree on both counts. New Glaser screw chucks were unavailable for a while and i was down to two, so when Alan had them again I bought a spare for me and one for a good friend’s lathe with a smaller spindle thread. IMO, WELL worth the price. (The advantages of having more than one are if I have more than one project in progress or if a student or friend is turning in my shop.
There are other solutions but I rely on the Glaser for almost all face turning. And Alan is such a pleasant person to talk to - maybe give him a call first to make sure he has what you want in stock. Ask him for a spare catalog or too - I’ve given out several to visitors and friends.
