Green Wood Sealer

I have been using Rockler green wood sealer for a long time. I use a gallon about every 6 months. They no longer offer it in a gallon size and their quart size is about the same they use to charge for the gallon. Looking at the Anchor Seal classic it is $51 a gallon on Amazon. A bit pricy for me. I have tried white glue with some success. Klingspor has a green wood sealer for about $22 a gallon. Anyone use the Kilngspor and have any comment about it? Any other suggestions?

Note: I use wax on smaller pieces.

I'm using the klingspor at the moment.
It seems like the other I've used in the past. I'll coat the whole rough turned bowl and usually it will be clear pretty quick and definitely by the next day.
I did have a couple crack really bad but it was red oak which opened up 1/2 inch and is so out of round that I probably wouldn't be able to finish turn anyway.

Since you're east of the Mississippi, buying a drum direct from Anchor Seal and divvying it up amongst a group, like your local club, is economically reasonable.

I still have half a gallon of Anchor seal, as I only used it on raw logs that had to wait longer than an hour or so.

On the rough turned bowls I only use the Brown paper bags and never a sealer.

I think you can you tell that the rough turned bowls (1000pieces) have no sealer on any of them.

I have a small sawmill operation and was buying it 10 gallons at a time. They had a great shipping price but have changed policy to limit purchase to two gallons. It's not the same as Anchor seal but the end result is the same, at least on logs. Never had any problems with it.

I only seal logs. Wet turnings are paper bagged to dry. Used yellow wood glue for a # of years with good success. In the past year I tried some pva drywall primer that worked well also - both significantly cheaper than the wax wood sealers. I store my logs out of the sun, and have also sealed ends with stretch wrap that has worked well, and is becoming my favorite.

I was using Anchor seal, works great but expensive. $100.00 a gallon Canadian. Changed to Woodchuckers log sealer for half the price and works great so far on hickory, walnut, maple and horse chestnut.

Thanks for the response. Seems the Klingspor is the least expensive at around $22 a gallon, so I am going to give it a try.

If you mean white glue, yes. Had mixed results.

I've been using the Crafts Supplies USA product for over 40 years now, and have had very good success with it. The label has changed a few times, but the white waxy mixture has remained the same. Since a gallon will last me for years, I see no reason to use anything else.
