Heads-up that Johannes Michelsen is selling a bunch of his (great) tools at a significant discount.
The sale items keep changing as he sorts through what he has too much of :)

I really like his floppy sanding accessories and the extension rods that he has fabricated to accept them.
He also has tool rests and handles on sale.

I just bought on of his 3/4" handle as I have tried other quick-release collet type mechanisms and other manufacturers' mechanisms slip

FYI and hope it helps

I suspect that's the case Brent. I did a class with him last year; a wonderful experience and remarkable to see him at work. I nearly coughed up a lung/laughed when I was completing the very top of the crown of the hat. Johannes pushed it, said "it should give a little, a bit like a coke can" and then followed that with "I think you can take off another 1/64th" - Yea right! ;-*

At the time he mentioned he might scale back on the tooling; he's getting on in age and less stress is always good.

I really like his vector grind fixture and if he does discontinue it, I do hope someone picks it up. I've had a wolverine for years but I have lost count of the number of times the base of the fixture was not firmly seated in the arm/pocket. Hannes's fixture eliminates that risk.

I'm a real fan of his. First met him during a regional symposium in the late 90s. Picked up his gouge and thought that was the ugliest bevel I had ever seen. Then I watched him turn a hat and my jaw dropped. Bought his bowl gouges before the Vector Grind fixture and was pretty frustrated trying to duplicate the grind. Bought one of the first models of the vector grind and it made using the gouges really enjoyable. I'm impressed just how far around you can have the flute and not get a catch. Also very pleased with his tri-lobe handles. Especially nice since my arthritis is just getting so much worse.

Did Chris Ramsey learn hat turning from Johanesses Michelson?
I watrched Chris turn a cowboy hat and took a picture of his gouge, sharpened by hand in a very short time. Most of the grind was clearance - I highlighted the bevel and the cutting edge:
