Rifle stocks

Back when rifles (03, M1, M14) were made to fire accurately up to 1000 yards, the stocks were turned on lathes!

Yep. Called a "Blanchard Lathe." Invented by Thomas Blanchard at Springfield Armory around 1820, for "Turning Irregular Forms." Patent numbers before the fire mid-19th century are haywire, but might be found as no. 3131x or x3131 (I forget which.) Works substantially the same as today's Duplicarver (Google for more).
