A friend is upgrading from a Grizzly 1442 lathe and is considering a Harvey t-60S. He asked my opinion and I have never seen one. Has anyone on the forum had any experience with this lathe?
Thanks in advance.

Never seen one, but have looked at some videos about them. They sound like a good deal. I would have to play on one first. I think there are a couple of owners here in the forums.

I am setting one up this week and have a question. The instructions say "The machine must be connected with Single Phase and five-wire power supply . . ." I'm familiar with wiring 240v circuits with two hots and a ground, but five-wire power is a new one for me. Any advice about what this means/how to do it?

In response to the original question, the lathe is heavy and appears to be well built, with nice fit and finish. Beyond that, I'll have to get it powered up to say more.

It would help to see a picture of the plug on the end of the cord if there is one or a picture of the wiring in the instruction book.

The plug appears to be a NEMA 6-20, for a 20 amp circuit, which requires only 3 wires. The "five-wire" reference in the instruction booklet is a mystery (to me).

No expert, but 5 wire to me means plugging directly for three phase supply with a 5 wire plug. Not sure why it would be in the manual. Under specifications in the manual do they say 230V, single phase?

On paper it looks like a nice lathe.
