Help with Tree Identification

A friend gave me a few pieces of a tree that came down. She thought it was Basswood, but I am not certain. The leaves have that basic shape, but are smooth on the edge, no ridges or teeth. Pictures attached. Any ideas?

It does not look like basswood, or linden, to me. If memory serves, linden has an asymmetrical leaf, which are larger in size even for the so-called 'little leaf linden'. The leaves and bark look most like a poplar/cottonwood to me, but you all are so far away, there may be something you have that I don't know about.

I can't say what the tree might be, but it doesn't look like the cottonwood trees that grow around here.

Looks like black gum (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nyssa_sylvatica). Very common in PA. I had one that came down last year in a wind storm. The wood was very heavy.
