Hi Mike, I’ve used hemp oil a number of times and like it a lot. I find that it doesn’t discolor as much as some other finishing oils. It’s also practically odorless, which is quite different than tung oil (tung oil’s odor sticks around for a long time). That said, on very light woods (or sapwood) you’ll still see slight yellowing. I think that’s unavoidable with oils in general. My recent piece I posted “Protect the Queen”, the flowers are finished in tung oil. You can see the sapwood is very slightly yellow, but not much. Note, the first time you open up a bottle you’ll see the hemp oil is pretty green—it does not impart a green color in my experience, so don’t be hesitant. It’s likely most similar to walnut oil, and has an equally long full cure time.
