I have an opportunity to purchase an unused set of Sorby's....problem is that they are not HSS but carbon steel. Otherwise they are identical to the HSS Sorby's I already own. I know that I can probably expect less longevity from carbon steel and that I will have to be more careful in grinding. I would like to make the owner a reasonable offer that is fair and equitable to both of us.
I would like your opinions of about how much less the same set of tools might be on account of being carbon steel vs. HSS. Perhaps 25% less....50%?
