Instant Gratification - Finishes

Mark......I'm having difficulty in finding this information directly from 3M......might be there, but I'm unsuccessful finding it.

I'm finding the same information from several alternative sources, though:

Maybe it's best to experiment, and find what works best for your purposes.

First of all I should issue an "I'M A Newbie" reminder :) ...maybe there should be a yellow stripe above our logos for the first year.:D

Okay Joe this is my way of getting a quick finish. I sand to a 2000 polish (not a big deal for me) apply 2 coats of Deft Sanding Sealer wilts still on the lathe (takes about 10 minutes to dry) and then I use 2 coats of the Hut friction wax applied one time in both directions (forward and reverse) . I think part of the trick to this is not overheating the Hut friction wax and melting the Deft sealer...cuz that'll cause an ugly streak so keep moving, and finally I polish with an auto acrylic wax gently.
....doesn't take long to do

I bought a bottle of General Finishes Wood Turners Finish after seeing this thread. I used it on a hurry up segmented bowl for a present. I think I may have found one that will work. I need to do some more experimenting with the best way to apply it , but it leaves a nice gloss finish and doesn't have the poly look to it. I used on Peruvian Walnut and Blood wood. It would be nice to find a grain filler that would work under the it. Directions say not to use over shellac which I normally use for grain fill. I plan on calling General Finish to get some suggestions. I will say that it dries very quickly. It seems to flow out nicely though. I put on 6 coats in about an hour. That surprised me. More to follow. It is pricey. $24.00 on Amazon for an 8 oz. bottle.

So to update, here is what I've come up with. Soaking a generous application of Parfix 3408 CA Glue, let it sit for 10-15 seconds to soak in, then wipe off all the excess with a paper towel. A spary or two of accelerant, then polkish with Yorkshire Microfine Abrasive Paste, and then a final coat of microcystalline wax. So far, I'm loving th results and it's quick and easy.
