is there any way to tell what color maple will turn when you apply a clear oil such as lemon oil, some maples have color in the blank and some are off white, and the off white i never can figure out what color it will turn??????

would it be better to just apply a clear wax?????????

Color of maple

Have you tried applying your finish of choice to a scrap area of the raw wood? What i have recently been using is Rocklers Wipe on Poly Gel Satin Finish. Does not change colors. Dries for second coat in about 4 hours. A coiuple of coats and on to the Beall Buffing station and I'm done. Looks great.
