Over the last weekend, I helped out on the KTMP stand of Woodworks at Daventry - a show in the midlands of the UK put on by the Tudor Rose Woodturners. On the table were two trembleurs which has been made by Jean Francois Escoulen when he was filming recently. I've made trembleurs but these left mine on the starting block as regards skill and content.
The reason that the trembleurs were on the table was because JFE's dvd in which he makes these and shows you how to copy turn, was on sale for the first time. Last night I had a chance to watch the dvd and it is brilliant. Trembleurs are fascinating if not useful and an excellent skill enhancing project. You do need various centre steadies but the dvd does explain how to make these for just a few cents. Jean's English is not perfect but he does get his message across and if you want to watch a TRUE MASTER at work, you accept them for what they are.
I can almost guarantee that if you watch the dvd you will want to have a go at a trembleur. I know that Karl is a friend of mine and my opinion is likely to be biased but I think the dvd is excellent.
I do know that more dvds are in the pipeline and one to really look out for is Terry Scott's after he films in July.
Kindest regards
Paul
