Hi everybody. I'm a French retired doctor, I started woodturning 50 years ago, and after long breaks I resumed it intensively after my retirement in 2015. Having admired and learn from many American woodturners, I joined the AAW a year ago. I practice in two associations in France, and I enjoy working with spheres (Chinese balls) femispheres and some 'trembleurs' (trembles ?) I am very interested in texturing, dying and painting. Practicing a little steelworking, I love making my own tools. Other hobbies are painting, starving.
Nice to meet you.

Its all good Jean-Louis, my school boy French is 'lamentablement insuffisant' :) . Welcome looking forward to see what you make.

Thank you Hughie, but I'm just a hobbyist in woodturning, although i'm passionate . I saw you are from Australia like one of my masters R Raffan.
Also I am very clumsy for social networks 🖐😉

J’étais médicin (chirugien) aussi mais j’ai pris ma retraite il y a 2 ans. Bienvenue!

Your English is great—mieux que mon français!

And your turnings are incroyable!

Hi Alan, happy to find there a former colleague. After 45 years without speaking English, a lot of English people, (even also some American) came and lived in my small town and in my street,. Then I became friend with some of them and I started to learn an speak English again, taking a great pleasure with this. After forty years without turning, because my professional occupations, but always practicing woodworking more or less, carving an painting, I started again very strongly everyday for the seven last years, I joined two French woodturning associations with a great benefit, and reading a lot of books and following many American, English and Australian woodturners. I'm a hobbyist, I don't need money, but it is a real passion.
Have a good day and good shavings
