Hello everyone, I hope this finds you well. As an introduction, I am a fairly new to turning though I have owned a lathe for several years. I first bought it when I started making furniture in earnest with the intentions of making turned legs and knobs. Last fall I had no furniture projects so I figured I’d put some effort into turning finally. That opened up a can of worms and a new obsession.

I haven’t taken any formal classes but I must have watched a few hundred hours of Raffan, Mahoney, Tomasic, Steve jones, Glenn and Liza, Glen L, etc…. Carefully watching every cut and approach. By trade I am a heavy equipment technician, trainer and a retired Army Chief. I work towards precision and efficiency and enjoy that in turning. Although I lack artistic expression, I am trying to develop the skills to create a piece that is not only functionally ergonomic but also displays natural beauty.

I am looking forward to seeing and learning from all on this forum.

A lot of my turnings can be seen on instagram @waitingonadirtnap
