The spindle lock on my Jet 1221VS has an irritating feature: It doesn't stay locked. The button that locks the spindle is spring-loaded, so as soon as I let up side pressure on the chuck (while unscrewing a workpiece) the button pops out. So, I made a little tool that keeps the button pressed while I fiddle with the workpiece. It comprises a stick made of Starboard (UHMW) with two rare-earth magnets screwed into it, and a setscrew mounted on the end of the stick.

I place the tool on the back of the headstock so that the setscrew holds the button in. Works fairly well for a prototype.
