Just recieved my new jet 1642 (merry christmas to me!!!) I have a question about the 230 circuit. The power cord has 3 wires: Black, White and green. Is the white supposed to be the second hot wire? Is this a 2 wire 220 system verses a 3 wire system. I was expecting a red/ black. Just want to make sure before I hook it up. I have to wire an outlet, as well. Not knowing the power cord configuration I ran 3 wires plus ground to the box. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Jeff

Your assumption is correct that the white is the second hot wire. A neutral is not needed. They did not exactly follow the NEC guidelines for color coding. Take a red Marks-A-Lot and color the white wire red.

Thanks Bill, I figured they just used the same wire for the 220 as the 110. I wish they would have had a little better instructions. On the plus side I am getting the 200 dollar rebate from Jet. I am going to use that to purchase a wood burning kit.
