Hey y’all,

My name is Joshua Horton, i am 32 years old and I live in Macon, Georgia. I have been turning for around 2 years now. Started out on a harbor freight 12x36 lathe and recently upgraded to a 14x40 jet lathe which I am thoroughly enjoying. I do a lot of spindle turning and have recently found a lot of success making and selling custom baseball bats, some 18-1/2” versions as well as full size mlb spec bats. So far i have made some goblets, a few rolling pins and some lidded vessels. Welcome to the forum. Nice looking bats. What are the studs on the last one made of? And is that purple heart in the two rolling pins?

Yes that is Purple Heart on the rolling pins. The studs i used are called “screw nails” , They are stainless steel, I found them in a McMaster Carr catalog.

The studded bat is actually based off of an old samurai weapon my customer requested called a “tetsubo”

Welcome. Have mentioned this before but worth repeating. An interesting side trip is the Hillerich & Bradsbury factory in Louisville, KY. Most interesting on the past methods and CNC methods of turning baseball bats.
