Considering a lathe upgrade and was wondering if anyone has had any experience the Record Power Herald Lathe? Was thinking about purchasing one from Highland Woodworking and wondering if they are a good company to deal with? Thanks a bunch.

I have had a Record Power Envoy for 2 to 3 years now. I love it. I have no complaints and have had zero problems. I have not needed to use customer service but can say they are top notch. I got an email from Highland Woodworking saying my package would be delivered in two days. I called them and told then that I had not ordered anything. They told me that a couple of people had controller problems so Record Power was sending everybody a new controller for free. Now I have a free spare controller in case mine goes out. Record Power also sent me a free Chuck for my trouble. To me that is excellent customer support.

Rusty,

Thanks a bunch for the information and nice to hear about the good customer support. Will probably be ordering the record power herald lathe this weekend from Highland. All of the reviews and research I have done have all been very positive for the Record Power lathes. Your reply back is greatly appreciated & have a great weekend!

Highland Woodworking is a great company extremely well respected and regarded in the woodworking community. I've dealt with them a lot always with full satisfaction. I bought the Record Power Herald Lathe from them a while ago. It's a nice machine with features found usually on larger lathes. I got a look at similar size lathes from other manufacturers at a Rockler store. The Record Power seems to offer a much higher quality for the price.

I like mine. On sale at $999 pretty good deal.

My old post.

Everyone that responded back to me with Record Power lathe information I just wanted to thank you all again. Ordered The Record Power Herald lathe from Highland Woodworking on a Saturday evening while watching college football and it was delivered the following Wednesday. Very nice lathe and turned the first bowl on it today. Seems to be very well made and runs smooth and quiet.
