The ONEWAY wheel set is about the easiest to put on and off and the pneumatic tires roll over most surfaces.

Around the shop I move a general 260 using a hydraulic table.

Our club lathe lives on a trailor it has a boat trailer jack on one end and 2x4 with two casters on th other end.
The 2x4 is on hinges.

Our club got one from Craft Supplies when they had it but there was some dispute and they dropped it but after about six months it seem like someone else picked it up . I just do not know who it was.

I have a Nova DVR and a Robust Scout. Since I do my turning in my condo garage; everything is on casters. I like the casters that lock the swivel as well as the wheels. I purchased mine at Woodcraft. Casters add about three inches to the height of your lathe so depending on how tall you are; you may need a platform to stand on.

I also put castors (along with additional riser blocks) under my PM3520. The castors I purchased 15+yrs ago have a rubber foot that can be adjusted down to stop movement, but frankly I leave the wheels down 90% of the time as the lathe is very stable for almost any turning I’ve done recently (up to ~12” bowls, 20” platters, etc)

I’m looking for some really detailed pics, or plans for a home built “lift lock & roll” for my two large lathes. I have the tools to cut the metal and a welder to put it together. Anyone know where to point me for such plans/pics?

Take a look at this video. I do not see why it could not be adapted to use metal parts but also much heavier casters than he used.

I use a set of tri-dollies and a low profile car jack. I lift up each end to slide the dollies in place, move to the new location, and lift each end to take out the dolly.

This is what I have on my PM3520C. It’s a little fussy to find the “sweet spot” where it engages to elevate the leg and hold it there, and the lathe is very heavy so stepping on the handle is necessary (that’s a little awkward). Also, the feet have to be left somewhat proud of the casting and this thing interferes with adjustment of the feet. It can work to move the lathe but it’s a bit of a pain. I wouldn’t order it again.

I made my own lift lock and roll for my Laguna 15/24. I studied the pictures of it and made it, I like the fact the lathe sits on its feet when in use. I used 5" swivel casters on all 4 corners because that's what I had laying around. The hard part is getting the lift plate that attaches to the cross rod correct, It took me two tries to get it right. I don't know how to post pictures or I would. It works very well, but as Hockenbery said pneumatic tires would roll easier.

Beautiful setup for your Robust Scout! Love the stand and how you set back the lathe so you won't constantly lean into the stop bar!

Hi Tom.Im in Racine,and learned to turn at the senior center in Kenosha.Also wood carve at River bend.I do segmented bowls mostly.Been turning about 3 yrs.

I have a Powermatic 3520C and use a hydraulic lift table rated for 1,000 pounds that I bought at Northern tool. Works great but my lathe is only one of the many things this old bald retired guy moves with it. Very handy if you have the room to store it.
