Hi all. Newly retired. Have always been fascinated by wood turning and an uncle recently piqued my interest. Been acquiring tools and parts and my lathe will be delivered next week. Been binging hard on turning videos and any info I can find on the web and came across this site. Doesn’t look like there are any local groups within about 150 miles or so so will have to gather whatever knowledge I can get here and through on line classes and videos. Not in any hurry, plenty of time to take it slow and try to do it right. Looking forward to a new adventure. My biggest question right now is where to source wood in the northwest. Lots of pine and fir around here but not much hardwood that I’m aware of. Guess just about anything will work to learn on but have to figure out where to get quality stuff at some point. Like I said, have a lot to learn. Looking forward to getting to know everyone.
