Lidded box gift

My wife wanted me to make a lidded box with a finial for a friends birthday. My son was visiting from Texas and said I should make it out of acrylic. I have never done this before. I am still on the fence about it but my wife loved it so it stayed. I am also adding a background trying to get better pictures going forward.IMG_0624.jpeg
 
Excellent job on grain matching! It ain't easy. Maybe more difficult with a tapered form like yours. Some times I will use a collar for the tenon so there isn't that 1/4 to 1/2 inch gap for the tenon.
