I believe I this may be an old Rockwell/ Delta live center. Can anybody verify that, and does anybody know where parts can be purchased? There used to be an assortment of centers that fit in the taper socket as the 60d point is now.

Send me a photo of the point removed. I may have some of them.. I got a bunch of centers one time and didn't know what they fit. If I can still find them I will be glad to measure and see if they fit.

The point on the Robust live center can be extended out or recessed. A set screw is used rather than a tapered insert. I have one and it has become my favorite.

You might also consider the line of MultiStar live centers available from the Sanding Glove. I have the Super 32 which is great for close-in work. For heavy duty work you might consider the Promax 38.

Looks like a delta center. It was my first live center. Still works.
A gift from sherry in 1975 or so.

Mine came with inserts.
A cup with a point
A point like you show
A flat disc maybe 3/4” diameter.

Looks like an early version of the Delta 46-490 live center.
There is a listing on EBay that has the exact same live center listed under "Bokum".
Bokum tool company has been in business for many years making mostly cnc tooling these days.
Hard to say who was making the accessories for Delta in the early days.

Exactly Al! I don't want to replace it, I want to find the other centers that seem to have gotten lost in a few shuffles. It is a well made tool.

Here you go John-- It measures .450" at the narrowest beginning of the taper. Thanks.

And here is the Ebay link Mike mentioned above that shows the one part I have and the missing parts.

I am sure that my original live center was made in the USA. These new copies don't look exactly the same, but they're close.

Tom,

What kind of points do you want/need? I can turn some on my metal lathe if you have the
dimensions for the center points. I will trade you for some wood. :-)

I will measure them tomorrow. I have about 6 centers all that have a taper and my guess is they may be around 1/2" or less. I will measure the length, small end and large end of the taper. I couldn't enlarge your photo but the details showing in the ebay page sure do look similar.

Tom Here is what I have. You are welcome to them if you think they will fit. Just send me your mail address.

Nothing special, let me know what the dimensions are for the points you are looking for
and I will turn a few on my metal lathe for you. Message me your mailing address and
I will get you fixed up.
