My brother wants me to make him a wooden western belt buckle with turquiose inlay. I am having difficulty finding a source for a quality belt backing to go on the back of the wood to make it into a buckle. I found a cheap looking one ($1.49) on the Tandy Leather web site, but would like something better. Any ideas?

Check out lapidary suppliers. My Father in Law used to make all sorts of belts buckles with stones. It's been many years ago so I don't know where he got them but must have been from lapidary supply houses.
